What is a mind map used for?+
Mind maps visualise ideas radiating from a central concept, showing relationships between thoughts. Used for brainstorming, project planning, note-taking, studying, and problem-solving - any task where seeing connections between ideas helps.
What is the difference between a mind map and a concept map?+
Mind maps radiate from one central node with hierarchical branches. Concept maps can have multiple root concepts and show bidirectional and cross-connections with labelled relationship lines. Mind maps are better for brainstorming; concept maps for showing complex relationships.
How many levels should a mind map have?+
Typically 2-3 levels (central topic, main branches, sub-branches) is optimal for clarity. More than 4 levels makes the map hard to read. If a branch becomes too complex, create a separate mind map for it.
Can I import from other mind mapping tools?+
Import from JSON export is supported. For Miro, XMind, or MindMeister files, export from those tools as PNG/SVG for reference, then rebuild the structure here - there's no universal mind map file format.
